It is with broken hearts that we share that our beloved Mila, the heart of Klingeler Gallery and our forever gallerist, passed away today at 12 years and 11 months due to heart failure.

Mila wasn’t just our Pomeranian—she was family, a best friend, and the soul of our home and gallery. She greeted every guest with love, inspired countless smiles, and grew up alongside us through every season of life.

She will always be remembered for her big personality, gentle heart, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Though our gallery feels emptier without her, her spirit will always be present in every space we create.

Back in 2018, I showed my work at the Booze & Pancakes art show in downtown Phoenix. I remember feeling crushed—people were buying stickers and little crafts, but no one bought my art. I started to question if my work was even good enough, or if I was just wasting my time.

One person showed interest in my piece Suppadenum, and I almost sold it for $250 just so I could feel like I had made a sale. My wife reminded me not to panic, that my art wasn’t meant for that type of show, and that it belonged in elegant homes and the right settings. She told me, “this is not the right place for your art.”

She was right. If I had sold Suppadenum that night, it would have never been picked up a year later by General Public x RH, opening doors I never imagined.

Things really do happen for a reason. I kept pushing forward, hosted a small backyard art exhibit, got encouragement from friends and family, and little by little, I started to believe in my work again.

Fast forward to today—I’ve had the honor of opening my own gallery, being part of RH collections, and continuing this journey that started with so much doubt.

Sometimes the “no’s” are just redirections.
