Inspired by “A Forest” by The Cure, this abstract composition explores atmosphere, memory, and emotional depth through a fluid, intuitive process. Earth-toned pigments are activated by water, allowing them to flow, fade, and dissolve across the surface, creating a sense of movement and quiet tension that echoes the song’s haunting, immersive quality.
Water plays a central role in shaping the work, softening edges and lifting layers of paint to reveal subtle textures beneath. These organic transitions create areas of erosion and transparency, where dense, gestural marks gradually recede into lighter, open spaces. The result is a surface that feels both grounded and ethereal — as if emerging from mist or shadow.
Much like Christian Klingeler’s approach to abstraction, the painting embraces restraint and material-driven expression, allowing process and intuition to guide the final form. The work invites prolonged viewing, offering a contemplative space where sound, emotion, and visual rhythm quietly converge.
